Memorial Weekend

Over the weekend we went and took a quick trip to Grandpa and Grandma Lane's cabin that is up in Chama; Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Kevin also came up and met us there. The drive up went well...Jake and Ry slept for the majority of the time. When we arrived at the cabin...it was definitely COLD and SNOWING!!! We took a little walk out side and Jake and Ry then explored the cabin inside and... of course LOVED the stairs!!!! We were a little concerned about how they would sleep at night (this is our first overnight trip somewhere); but they did well and slept through the night...However because we all shared a room Riley and Jake woke up about 6am each morning and were excited to see that mom and dad were in the same room....TIME TO GET UP!! The second day we were there it snowed almost all day!!! We were planning on doing work up at the cabin (painting, pulling weeds, fixing things) but were unable to because of the snow so we went into town and saw the train, walked around the town, and also went down by the river. That evening it did stop snowing and the next day was really nice....so we were able to fix and paint the cabin the morning that we were headed home. The drive back was not as good as the drive up....Jake slept for over an hour and Ry slept for 45 minutes....the rest of the time they ate snacks, read books, and were entertained by Daddy. Of course we really wanted them to sleep most of the time as we were meeting up with family that night for dinner....OH Well....we did go to dinner and Jake and Ry were Extremely crabby!! But at least we were able to visit for a little while. Monday morning we all slept in and recovered from our first trip/adventure. Overall.....it went pretty good!!!!

Riley's first haircut

Today we (mom, grandma Lane, and Riley) went and had our hair cut. This was Riley's first haircut just to trim and cut off ratty ends. We are working on growing her hair out and didn't want to cut off too much as she still doesn't have much to cut off. However....Jake has had at least 4 buzz cuts from dad...his hair is really thick and he has a lot of it. Poor Riley has hair like mom and Lucky Jake received dad's thick hair...I don't know how that's fair!!!!

Grandpa and Great Uncle's cars

Hey Grandpa Lane and Great Uncle Leroy......Do these look familiar???

These two cars are pretty special....not only do Jake and Ry like playing with them, they were Grandpa Lane and Great Uncle Leroy's cars when they were boys. We actually had them in Jake and Ry's room along with their Great Grandma Lane's tea set....but as you can tell they are not in the room for long. We put them back on the shelf each day, but Jake and Ry always want to get them down and play with them. Who knew??? Toys from back then are still the coolest!!!

Riley and Jacob are the best of buds.........Of course also can be royal enemies too!!! When we are all in good moods it is great fun to tickle each other!! It is hilarious to watch them tickle one another and chase each other around the house....they get ssssoooo excited and start cracking up laughing and screaming.
